Intermediate Book Reading (Reference )
The books that are recommended in this section are mostly Rabbinic, but some are Apocalyptic and others are extra Biblical books that did not make the final canon. It needs to be understood that I do not propose that these books, whether they be Rabbinical or otherwise to be Scripture, or on an equal footing with Scripture. While it is true that some books up until the canon on Scripture was closed, were considered to be Scripture, it will not be pursued by me to redefine canon, because I get a little nervous about the whole adding or subtracting from the Scriptures. No Gnostic materials are or ever will be listed for reference materials, as I do not believe they assist in properly interpreting the New Testament Scriptures. The Dead Sea Scrolls are not listed because up until this point, I have not got around to studying them or the community believed to have produced them. Once such a study has been done, a responsible decision will be made. The works listed are believed by me to help in understanding of the Jewishness of the Christian faith as it existed in the first century common era as well as assist in understanding the mindset of the people of the first century common era. If at such a time as I become aware that any of the works listed in these recommendations are not helpful on this list, they will be removed immediately. (For a basic explanation of any of the books listed below click on the book. You will be directed to Amazon.com where you can not only read what the book is about, but you can read reviews and check out the author's sources)
